Six upholstery ranges across our indoor, outdoor and pet collections. They differ in composition, durability and — importantly — in how you clean them. This page sets out the actual specifications so you can choose on facts rather than on a photograph.
Swatches are hard to judge on a screen. If you are close to Centurion, come and handle them in daylight before you decide.

What a rub count actually means
Martindale rub count measures how many cycles of abrasion a fabric withstands before showing wear. 30,000 rubs is the usual threshold for general domestic use and 50,000 for heavy domestic or light commercial. All six of our ranges meet or exceed the domestic threshold.
Note that a lower rub count does not mean a worse outdoor fabric. Clario and FibreGuard trade some abrasion resistance for UV stability, water repellency and stain performance, which is what actually determines how an outdoor sofa ages in South African sun.
Mistelle — velvet, pet range
100% polyester velvet with a low-sheen finish and the highest rub count we offer at 110,000. Pet-friendly and water repellent, machine washable on a warm normal cycle. Used on the Furrona dog beds — which is exactly where you want the most abrasion-resistant fabric in the range.
Glaciella — plush ribbed, indoor
100% polyester, plain weave, natural matt finish, 100,000 rubs. Warm machine washable. Used on the Velorra range.
Luma — ribbed with a nylon blend, indoor
92% polyester with 8% nylon, knit and plain weave, 100,000 rubs. The nylon content adds resilience. Warm machine washable, but unlike Glaciella it should not be ironed. Used on the Velorra and Cubs ranges.
Ardin — matt weave, indoor, dry clean only
100% polyester, plain weave, natural matt finish, 65,000 rubs. Worth knowing before you choose it: Ardin must not be washed, ironed or bleached. It is dry clean only, using any solvent except trichloroethylene. Used on the Velorra range.
Clario — solution-dyed, outdoor (Cavura)
100% solution-dyed polyester, jacquard and plain weave, 50,000 rubs. Solution dyeing means the colour is added to the fibre while it is still liquid rather than printed on afterwards, so it runs all the way through — which is why it holds up in direct sun. UV resistant and weather tolerant.
FibreGuard Outdoor — performance fabric, outdoor (Varela)
100% solution-dyed recycled polypropylene, 40,000 rubs, colour fastness rated 7–8. The most technical fabric we use: stain-free, water repellent, anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, and mildew and odour resistant. Machine washable at 30°C or 60°C — but it must not be tumble dried or dry cleaned.
Fabric protection
Indoor sofa ranges carry MasterGuard fabric protection — an invisible barrier that repels spills, resists stains and keeps upholstery looking newer for longer. Mistelle on the pet range is water repellent in its own right. Outdoors, the protection is built into the fibre rather than applied to it: Clario is solution-dyed, and FibreGuard adds its own stain and moisture performance.
