Every Davorel piece is built on a solid hardwood frame — Red Oak indoors, Iroko outdoors, Saligna on the pet range. Not veneer, not pine, not board. This page explains what each timber does and shows the finishes available.
Red Oak — indoor frames
Our indoor sofa ranges are built on an external frame of solid Red Oak. It balances strength, stability and natural warmth, and is known for its durability, attractive open grain and reliable performance — which is why we use it on furniture meant to last decades rather than seasons. The Velorra coffee table is solid Red Oak throughout.
Iroko — outdoor frames
Outdoor ranges use solid Iroko, often called African teak. It is exceptionally durable, highly resistant to rot and insects, and rich in natural oils that suit demanding outdoor conditions. Left unfinished it weathers to a soft silver-grey; oiled, it holds its golden colour.
Saligna — pet range frames
The Furrona dog beds are built on a box of solid Saligna. It offers dependable strength and long-lasting support, with a durability, stability and smooth grain that stands up to daily use — a sturdy, reliable base that keeps its clean look in a room.
How we stain
We use a premium eco-friendly oil-based stain that penetrates deeply into the timber rather than sitting on the surface as a film. That adds water resistance and protection against heat and sunlight, and it highlights the natural grain instead of hiding it.
Indoor stain finishes — Red Oak and Saligna

Iroko finishes — outdoor
The outdoor finishes are a different set, applied to a different timber, so they read differently to the indoor stains even where the names are similar.

The colours shown in these swatches may differ slightly from the actual wood due to natural variations in grain, texture and lighting. Timber is not a printed material — no two frames take a stain identically, which is part of the point.
Choosing a stain
Pick the wood stain to complement your chosen fabric rather than to match it exactly. If you are unsure, bring a cushion or a photograph of your room to the showroom and we will hold the options against it.
