Everything people usually ask before ordering a made-to-order sofa. If your question is not here, call 087 265 6952 or email info@davorelsofas.co.za.
Where does Davorel Sofas deliver?
We deliver within Gauteng only. We are not currently able to fulfil orders to addresses outside the province.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is free within 50 km of our Centurion workshop. Elsewhere in Gauteng a flat fee of R1,500 applies. The fee is confirmed at checkout or on your quotation before the order is finalised.
How long does a Davorel sofa take to make?
Manufacturing takes 20 to 25 days, and delivery after completion takes a further 1 to 3 days — so roughly three to four weeks from order to living room.
Are your sofas made to order?
Yes. We do not hold completed stock. Every piece is built to the fabric, wood stain and configuration you choose, which is why the lead time is what it is.
Can I see and sit on a sofa before ordering?
Yes. Our showroom is at Unit B1, 5 Bellingham Street, Highveld, Centurion, open Monday to Friday 8am–5pm and Saturday 9am–1pm. Please call ahead on 087 265 6952 so we can have the fabrics you are interested in ready. See Visit the Showroom.
What are the frames made from?
Three solid hardwoods, chosen for where the piece lives. Indoor sofas and the coffee table use solid Red Oak. Outdoor ranges — Cavura and Varela — use solid Iroko, often called African teak: exceptionally durable, highly resistant to rot and insects, and rich in natural oils. The Furrona pet range is built on solid Saligna. Detail on Timber & Stains.
Which fabric ranges do you offer?
Six. Full detail on the Fabric Guide.
| Range | Used on | Composition | Rub count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mistelle | Furrona (pet) | 100% polyester velvet | 110,000 |
| Glaciella | Velorra | 100% polyester | 100,000 |
| Luma | Velorra, Cubs | 92% polyester, 8% nylon | 100,000 |
| Ardin | Velorra | 100% polyester | 65,000 |
| Clario | Cavura (outdoor) | 100% solution-dyed polyester | 50,000 |
| FibreGuard Outdoor | Varela (outdoor) | 100% solution-dyed recycled polypropylene | 40,000 |
How durable is the upholstery fabric?
Durability is measured by Martindale rub count — see the table above. For context, 30,000 rubs is generally considered suitable for general domestic use, so all six of our ranges sit above that, from 40,000 up to 110,000. The outdoor fabrics trade some rub count for UV resistance, weather tolerance and stain performance, which matter more outdoors than raw abrasion does.
Can I wash the fabric?
It depends on the range, and they differ significantly:
- Mistelle (Furrona) — warm machine wash on a normal cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low, iron low. Any solvent except trichloroethylene.
- Glaciella — warm machine wash. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low, iron low. Any solvent except trichloroethylene.
- Luma — warm machine wash. Do not bleach or iron. Tumble dry low. Any solvent except trichloroethylene.
- Ardin — dry clean only. Do not wash, iron or bleach. Any solvent except trichloroethylene.
- Clario (Cavura) — do not bleach or tumble dry. Iron low. Low-temperature professional cleaning, any solvent except trichloroethylene.
- FibreGuard Outdoor (Varela) — machine wash at 30°C or 60°C. Iron at moderate temperature. Do not tumble dry and do not dry clean.
Outdoor furniture covers are different again: wipe clean only, no machine washing or dry cleaning.
Do you treat the fabric against stains?
Indoor sofa ranges carry MasterGuard fabric protection, which forms an invisible barrier that repels spills and resists staining. Mistelle on the pet range is water repellent in its own right. Outdoors, Cavura's Clario is solution-dyed for UV and weather resistance, and Varela's FibreGuard Outdoor adds stain-free, water-repellent, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and mildew- and odour-resistant performance, with colour fastness rated 7–8. Talk to us if you would like additional protection applied.
What wood stain options are there?
Five on the indoor timbers and five on Iroko, and they are different finishes. Indoor (Red Oak and Saligna): Natural (unstained), Clear, Light Brown, Medium Brown and Dark Brown. Outdoor (Iroko): Natural (unstained), Light Brown, Light/Medium Brown, Medium Brown and Dark Brown. Full swatches on the Timber & Stains page.
How do I look after the wood frame?
Apply a nourishing maintenance oil once a year, or whenever the surface starts to look dry. On wood already treated with our oil stain this restores the timber's natural oils and preserves the colour. We are happy to recommend a specific product. See Care & Cleaning.
What warranty do you offer?
Against qualifying manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship: five years on the frame and structure, two years on foam and cushioning, and two years on stitching and workmanship.
Can I collect my order instead of having it delivered?
Yes, from our Centurion workshop, by prior arrangement only. Please wait for confirmation that your order is complete before travelling.
Can I return a made-to-order sofa?
Because every piece is built to your specification, cancellations, returns and exchanges are assessed case by case. The full terms are set out in our returns and refund policy — please read it before ordering.
